All of our
Arks are built with multi purpose in mind, they can be used
as a farrowing Ark, dry sow, weaner or boar house etc., in fact,
whatever your requirements are at the time.
Our Arks are not just for pigs
Also suitable for sheep, lambs, goats, geese, ducks etc. (even
Lassie)
Design
Our Arks are built in
the traditional style with a few extras and modifications. To ensure
small piglets have no difficulty getting back inside we build all
Arks low to the ground. Our Arks have no timber protruding out at
the bottom so to avoid possible animal injury and tripping over
especially when doing a night inspection! All our Arks are built
using treated timber throughout and pre bent, galvanised steel
sheets with a plastic end trim for extra protection, in short, an
Ark that will last. All fixing holes are sealed with wax oil to
stop corrosion in the metal sheets and the fixing bolts incorporate
a rubber washer.
Detachable
floors
We use floors in our
Arks so to increase insulation between the damp ground and the
animal; especially important here in this part of Devon (overlooking
Dartmoor) which has a tendency to be wet. All our Ark floors are
completely detachable which greatly reduces the weight for moving
and of course makes easy cleaning. You simply lay the floor down at your chosen location then lift
or roll the Ark over on top, it’s that simple. However, if you are
placing your Arks onto a solid base or free draining soil you may
consider a floor to be unnecessary.
Doors
There are times when
fitting a door to an Ark is a bonus, especially at weaning time. We
supply optional, ready fitted, wooden doors which are easily
detachable or clipped back when not required.
Farrowing Ark extras
We can also supply
easily installed protective metal farrowing bars for inside
the Ark to prevent the sow from lying on her piglets, these are
simple to remove and store after use.
Also available - easily
installed wooden piglet retaining rails which attach to the
outside front of any size Ark.
